We
were recently contacted by the Halifax Humane Society about a sick
Sheltie who was turned in as a stray.
After 2 days of Veterinary
evaluation, it was apparent that Samson was in dire need of receiving a
blood transfusion, which has taken place today - 8/2/08.
Samson is estimated to be 2 years old. He stands a tall 18" high,
but only weighs 17 lbs. He is so emaciated that his waist
measures a mere 1-3/4" wide.
There's no doubt that Samson is a special boy.
Although his potassium and creatinine levels are practically that of a
dead dog, he still attempts to wag his tail.
However, he is refusing food.
Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue is making every attempt to allow Samson to
be the healthy and happy Sheltie he "should" be. But we can't do
it without your help.
Please consider donating just $5.00 to help us with Samson's Veterinary
bill. This is a young and handsome Sheltie with a
wonderfully loving disposition. He deserves every chance in the
world to know happiness with a loving family of his own.
If
you feel compelled to help Samson, please click the "donate" button
below. Realize that just a $1.00 donation will help pay for a
week's worth of Samson's ear infection medication.
And of course, we will proudly list your name on our 2008 Angels page.
Thank you,
Barb Davis
UPDATE:
We are
sorry to report that Samson passed away on 8/4/08. He appeared to
be responding well to the blood transfusion, but his kidneys were too
far gone and his little body just didn't have the strength.
Samson
was a special boy and had a true will to live. In his few days
here, he touched our hearts tremendously. Rest peacefully sweet
boy, and we'll see you once again at the Bridge.
This page will remain up through the end of August 2008.
Please know that Samson's Vet bill amounts
to approx. $500.00
All donations to help reduce this cost are greatly appreciated.
